Statement Of Teaching Philosophy Education Essay

Geting a 2nd linguistic communication is a womb-to-tomb procedure that requires great attempt and dedication. Many pupils come to my Chinese category anticipating it to either be a stepping-stone to better calling chance or a channel to feed their wonder towards â€Å" alien â€Å" Chinese civilization and history. With this in head, I have three chief aims for my instruction: 1. ) to ease the development of general sense and grasp for Chinese linguistic communication and civilization, 2 ) to supply cardinal cognition and tools built-in to Chinese larning procedure, 3 ) to further critical thought, self-learning consciousness and the capableness to use what they learn to practical scenarios. I actualize these aims by making an engaging, student-centered acquisition environment in which I place myself as a facilitator for my pupils ‘ larning procedure. My overarching end is to permeate pupils with relentless enthusiasm and grasp towards Chinese linguistic communication, and fi nally, animate them to go womb-to-tomb Chinese scholars and talkers. Bing a Chinese linguistic communication teacher, I try to incorporate my cognition gained as a research worker in linguistics and 2nd linguistic communication acquisition field, my passion as a devoted Asiatic linguistic communication scholar and my individuality as a native Chinese talker into my category. During my three old ages ‘ instruction, I steadfastly believe and ever adhere to the undermentioned rules. First, I ever strive to make a student-centered linguistic communication acquisition environment, which is reflected in assorted facets of my instruction. One facet lies in that I ever design and revise my category to suit what pupils genuinely want. For most pupils, the ultimate end of larning a linguistic communication is to be able to efficaciously pass on in that linguistic communication. Therefore, I include many synergistic activities which address common state of affairss in day-to-day life to hone pupils ‘ ability to use their acquisition to practical scenarios. For case, when learning a lesson about dinning, I ask my pupils to take part in a role-play activity that simulates a common scenario in a Chinese eating house. Students are paired up into groups of two and presume the function of clients or servers. Then, client will inquire waiter/waitress about recommendation on dishes utilizing a bill of fare from an reliable Chinese eating house. Furthermore, I encourage pu pils to prosecute in conversation with native Chinese talker by making a linguistic communication spouse plan, in which pupils are required to speak with his/her native Chinese spouse often. In my category, I place myself in a function non merely as a instructor that provides necessary cognition, but as a facilitator that guides pupils to detect the beauty of the linguistic communication. Through debut of these communicative activities, I aim to make a linguistic communication larning environment that is driven by its really purpose, that is, to accomplish effectual Chinese communicating in pattern. A student-centered acquisition environment is besides indicated by the fact that instructor should ever esteem each pupil and go to to each pupil ‘s specific demands. As the affectional filter is a really of import factor in foreign linguistic communication acquisition, A it is of import for me to be patient with pupils who make errors. I invariably remind my pupils that doing errors is an inevitable portion of advancement in linguistic communication acquisition and a good chance to larn. I besides pay particular attending to pupils who fall behind by doing certain they have all the aid they need to catch up. Second, I make every attempt to maintain pupils interested and motivated. Character and Point of View in “The Red Convertible” Essay

â€Å"The Red Convertible† is a short story by Louis Erdrich, in which two native American brothers named Marty and Henry decide to buy a red convertible Oldsmobile together. The two brothers spend much of the summer travelling around together in the car until the older brother, Stephan, is deployed to Vietnam. When Stephan returns, he is not the same and Marty tries desperately to recover their past relationship. The round, static, perseverant character of Marty in â€Å"The Red Convertible† is revealed through the first person point of view. The younger brother in the story, Marty, is round and static. Throughout the entire story, the reader is given insight into Marty’s thoughts and feelings, such as, â€Å"I was sorry I’d ever bought it, though, because of Stephan, and I was also sorry I’d bought color† (Erdrich 5). Marty does not openly convey this statement to his family. Marty’s beliefs and values do not change over the course of the story. In the beginning he, â€Å"thought back to times we’d sat still for whole afternoons† (5) and in the end of the story he yells at Stephan, â€Å"wake up, wake up, wake up!† (8). This shows that at the end of the story, Marty wants things to be normal just like he did in the beginning of the story. Marty’s perseverant nature influences the story because it shows how deeply he longs for his relationship with his brother to be normal again, and creates a sense of desperation. For example, Marty says, â€Å"One night Stephan was off somewhere. I took myself a hammer. I went out to that car and I did a number to its underside. Whacked it up† (6). This shows how much he is willing to do to make Stephan normal again despite Stephan’s serious condition. Also, when Marty says, â€Å"By the time I get out of the river, off the snag I pulled myself onto, the sun is down† it is implied that he tried to save Stephan from drowning, again showing how desperate Marty is to have his brother back. The point of view of the story is first. The author repeatedly uses statements like â€Å"I’m laughing so hard† (10) and, â€Å"I walk back to the car† (10). This makes it clear that the story is being told from Marty’s point of  view. The effect of using a first person point of view in the story is allowing the reader to have an emotional connection with Marty because it puts the reader in his shoes. The story may not be effective if told from another point of view such as third dramatic because the reader would not be able to fully understand the depth of Marty’s connection with his brother because his feelings would not be expressed in the story. The round, static, perseverant character of Marty is revealed through the first person point of view. Because the story is told from Marty’s perspective, it reveals how desperately he wants Stephan to get better. For example, Marty says â€Å"I tell you right then I wanted to smash that tube to pieces† (5). This shows how he was ready to destroy something he worked hard for in hopes it will help to make his brother better. Throughout the story Marty continues to do things to try to make Stephan better and through the first person point of view the reader sees how often he hopes and tries to accomplish this. By the authors use of the first person point of view, it allows the reader to be put into Marty’s shoes, therefore developing a round, static character and reveals to the reader how perseverant Marty was due to his relationship with his brother. MONEY and BNKING Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

MONEY and BNKING - Essay Example Trade deficit among other effects makes a country spend or export a lot of its currency to the foreign market, which may create shortage of the currency in the local market. Cause of trade deficit may attribute to the practices of by foreign markets or countries lowering the cost of their export to the affected country and increasing cost of importing goods and services from the affected country. This means that the affected country will have to spend a lot of its currency to export goods and services, and spend very little to import goods from the competitor country. From the analysis, it means that trade deficit literally increases supply of a country’s currency in the foreign market making the currency depreciate. This means that it impossible and practical difficult to maintain the value of local currency with negative balance of trade. For example, if supply of US dollar in the Euro market increases, the number of Euro required in buying one dollar will decrease. When the number of Euro required in buying one unit of dollar decreases, the demand for dollar in the foreign Euro markets will increase due to the low prices of dollar. This means that many foreigners in the European countries will be holding large quantities of dollars, as they will not be in demand for the American goods. This effect will result to decrease in the supply of dollar in American economy and subsequent rise in demand for dollar in the same American economy. The general effect of such market trend on the American economy will sharp deflation as locals will be not be willing to spend the little dollars they have in their custody. Economic recession occurs due to scarce supply of local currency in the local market, which affects demand among the local consumers. To correct the shortage, a country can resort to borrowing from foreign countries to spur its production and manufacturing activities. A country can also review its market and monetary policies to attract foreign invest ors who be returning local currency lost to the foreign markets. The best way that countries exercise control over their value of their respective currencies in the international market is through intervening the foreign exchange market. Foreign exchange market specifically deals with daily and periodical valuation of all international currencies depending on the international flow of the specific country’s currency. Intervening in such a market may mean that an interested country buy its own currency from the international exchange and create shortage of the same in the international market. A country can also intervene by selling its currency in the international market with aim of acquiring another currency with high value. In so doing, the buying country shields it domestic economy from any economic shifts in the foreign market country. This kind of economic practice is common among the developing countries but rare in the stable and industrialized countries. Industrializ ed countries do not like intervening in the foreign exchange market or various reasons. One of the reasons why industrialized countries do not intervene in the foreign exchange market relates to their developed statuses that makes them perform many manufacturing and production activities that earns them foreign income when exported. This means that they are always in situation of competition for the international market where they export their goods and services. Attempts by anyone of

Stock Price and Trading Volume Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Stock Price and Trading Volume - Essay Example Wood, McInish, and Ord (71), had found contradicting evidence, in the price-volume relationship. For they established the ratio between the price change and trading volume to be greater for the share prices downticks. Smirlock and Starks (64) had found that the relationship could only be supported during the time intervals when they could distinguish when the new information ex ante had reached the financial market. Due to the lack of the delivery of information to the financial market and the upbeat transaction costs, small amounts of evidence found that the relation had been lower for the up-ticks in the price than for the downticks. Data collected over an hourly basis from an extensive market index by Jain and Joh (38), had discovered the trading volume relates positively to the enormity of the price change. Findings have shown though, that the volume is more sensitive towards the positive price changes in contrast to the negative price changes. Epps, Hanna, Jain, Joh and parts of Smirlock and Starke's findings shown an implication of a positive correlation between the price change and trading volume per se. Ying's items (1) and (2) and a numerous number of researchers had found a similar positive correlation as found above. Rogalski (60) had... tedly found a positive correlation as well as Richardson, Sefcik, Thompson (58), Comiskey, Walkling and Weeks (12) all had found through tests on annual volumes of turnover and the price change to have positive traverse correlations. No such correlation had been found however by James and Edmister (39). So by looking at the empirical evidence summarized in Table 2, the two features discussed are, all the findings are from data collected from stock and bond markets, unlike previously mentioned empirical correlations between the price change and trading volume, and the data collected has not been collected from any futures markets. The statistical results found are weak, certain correlations found by Rogalski were found to be low for example and there were a couple findings that were inconsistent with a positive relationship to be found. Theoretical explanations by several authors of their findings, say the association of volume with the methodical risk through to stock returns, suggested by Morgan (51). A positive correlation between the price change and trading volume had been implied by the 'mixture of distributions hypothesis', only if the conditional indication of the stock price procession is in proportion to the quantity of new information into the market. There is however an unclear sense as to how the above could actually work. For the MDH with indicating minority is inconsistent with the markets equal balance, since it implies that the price change expected is from the arrival of new positive information into the market. Epps (20) found that a positive price change is cause for a larger volume on share transactions than for the negative price changes. His assumption that the 'bull' investors are optimists about their asset value at the close of the

Direct and digital marketing - Essay Example st 10 years, usage of this technique has increased and the cause of this increase is; lower capabilities of mass marketing in targeting and segmentation of relevant audience as compared to direct marketing and technological advancement (Nash, Sabin, & Kornbluth, 2000).Direct marketing is about reaching directly to existing and potential customers. Social Security Program Issues Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2500 words - 1

Social Security Program Issues - Research Paper Example Governments, particularly in the developed countries, are spending huge amount of resources on the social security programs offered to their citizens (Gruber and Wise). These social security programs provide health facilities, income support in case of unemployment, education facilities to the offspring and in some cases, special gifts and bonuses during national festivals etc. The facilities are generally offered to the unemployed, physically disabled due to accidents etc. and senior citizens who have retired from their jobs. History: Human beings have always faced economic uncertainties triggered by war, calamity, famine, physical disability and old age. Different traditions have been developed by human beings since ancient times to deal with the impact of such economic turmoil. The most common and obvious is the stocking of food and resources during the days of high yields so that they can be utilized later when required. The evidence of storage of grain can be found from the arch aeological discoveries about Mesopotamian, Egyptian and Indus Valley Civilizations. The Greeks used to stock olive oil which could later be used as a food in tough times and as a currency as well to buy other goods in exchange of the oil. Traditionally, bondage between families has existed that honors the elder members of the family. It puts responsibility on the younger, more energetic members to take care of the needs of those who are in their declining years. Similarly, the concept of charity has existed in human beings since times unknown and in fact is a part of human nature. The institutions of charity as we know them today (hospitals, old age homes etc.) have also existed since the later periods of Roman empires and the Islamic empires of Arabia and Egypt. The rich and affluent segments of society provide financial support for food, health and shelter for the poor especially the old or disabled. This form of social security plays a major role even today in most of the develop ed and under developed countries. Hence, the traditional means of social security are the concept of charity, the family structure, and the storage resources for future use (US Social Security Administration). The first ever appearance of formal institutions with the objective of providing social security to its members were the trade unions or guilds that appeared in the medieval times. The basic objective of these organizations was to improve the condition of labor through skill development and productivity enhancement (Stephen). However, by time these guilds developed into organizations that provided financial support to its elderly or unemployed members in case of any financial trouble. These societies took more formal form in the USA with proper titles such as Freemasons, Fraternal Order of Eagles etc (US Social Security Administration). As the democratic governments became more powerful in the civilized world, new programs for public welfare found their way in to the governmen t policies. The so-called ‘Poor Laws’ promulgated in England are the first record of legislation which resembles the social security program as we know it today (Sutherland). These laws stated that it was state’s duty to care for the wellbeing of its citizens. They also set forth a taxation mechanism to provide financial support for a welfare program and also defined the eligibility criteria for the beneficiaries of this program. Although

Bergen-Belsen Camp Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words - 6

Bergen-Belsen Camp - Assignment Example As the paper outlines, the gas chambers were designed in such a way that they were not isolated from the inmate barracks and they operated day and night. For instance, Auschwitz-Birkenau was positioned parallel to one of the gas chambers where the inmates could have a clear view of the operations taking place inside the chambers. This led to psychological distress, agony, and trauma among the prisoners considering that children, women and the aged were among the captives. The effects that resulted from the free-standing chimney are not different from the gas chamber as they both symbolized the untimely destruction of the captives (Piper 13).  The Phil Donahue interview brings to light what exactly happened in Auschwitz by distinguishing facts from fictions. During Phil’s interview, Cole contradicts various issues given in his initial report. For example, Cole changes the number of the total deaths from six million to four million, and also states that he did not see any gas chimney in Auschwitz, contradicting his first account. Cole’s second narration explicit a huge difference, therefore, rendering his original report prejudiced. Consequently, Phil Donahue’s interview develops a new angle into the Holocaust story by David Cole’s that demands a keen study and a new analysis with an independent investigative body (Rabbitoflnle 17). Both articles observed give an account of the remains of the dead bodies, clothes, shoes and the remains of the Barracks where the captives were sheltered. This is a clear sign that at least people were confined under poor conditions in Bergen- Belsen.
